a little about My French Family

Yesterday I spent the day seeing Cannes, the most beautiful city in the world.  I was so tired last night that I did not write about it!  I uploaded many pictures from my day onto facebook.   It was another amazing, perfect day.

Before I begin to blog so much about myself ,  I want to share with you about my wonderful family here.  I have been so blessed by them already, and learned many things about the way I want my own family to be one day when I begin to have my own!

I do not know where to begin, so I will start just by writing all my thoughts!

First off, they are always telling me to sit in the front seat of the car!  I feel so bad doing so, but they often insist, telling me they are taking this drive FOR ME and I must see all the sights.

There is a 17 year old son, Gregoire, and a 13 year old boy Vincent.  And what angels they are.  It is typical of boys (and girls too, really) at that age to be selfish, ect.  (I have spent a lot of time in middle and high schools!)   but it is not the case for these two.  They are so friendly, helpful, and just kind people.  I am here getting  PAID to do light housework, ect. and this morning I could not even unload the dishwasher without both of them jumping up to help me.  I insisted that I did not need help, but they helped anyway, saying that they hate sitting around feeling useless. Wow.

Vincent, the 13 year old, spent ALL DAY yesterday on his day off working on ONE project for his school.  He has to do an oral presentation on "Globalization and Technology"    He showed me his final work and it was incredible.  If only US middle school aged kids had such work ethic!   I do not know if this is the "norm" for french teenagers to be like this, or if I am just with an outstanding family.  Either way, it is truly inspiring to see.

The Dad, Christophe,  reminds me a lot of my Dad.  (Of course no one could TRULY compare to you, dad!)   He works a lot on his computer, is very funny, and the ways he plays with Marie reminds me of how my Dad used to play with us!  He even does that Donald Duck sound, Dad!  He is also very smart, like my Dad, he was the one translating everything for me during Mass and I can tell he knows a lot about the Bible, like my Dad as well.

and Christine, the "Mama" is truly the most wonderful lady!  She is very helpful and makes me feel right at home.  I am sorry to admit, Mom and Dad, but I am not homesick at all!  It is probably because I am in an extremely loving and welcoming enviornment.

and of course, Marie.  the most adorable little girl I have ever known.  You would not believe how happy and fun this child is!   She is a ball of energy.  She is also hilarious!  As you can already seen in the pictures, she is so lovely.

I will write much more about her in another post! We are headed to a Marineland right now!

Au Revoir!

  1. Wonderful! And yes, you are so right, our American children really need to learn a lot about work ethic. It saddens me the way the majority of students today do have the determination or drive to do their best in all things. I think it is because we reward everyone in America. Everyone gets a trophy, everyone gets a certificate, and these days everyone even gets some type of cord or sash to wear at graduation. We need to change things. I am so glad that God has blessed you with an amazing family. I do miss you but knowing you are so happy makes me miss you less.
